Wikileaks cracks NATO’s Master Narrative for Afghanistan – Wikileaks

Wikileaks cracks NATO’s Master Narrative for Afghanistan – Wikileaks.

As seen in the document the password used to “encrypt” the file was easily cracked because it is a dictionary word; “progress”. There is no complexity even though by some standards eight characters should be the minimum.

I suppose we could question if the document was really a classified one or just one intended for the masses and designed to dissemenate disinformation to disguise real concerns, activity, or plans. On the other hand, we can learn from this mistake by understanding that passwords remain the frontline of defense for your own personal documents and computer or network logins.

Rule number one: DO NOT USE ANY PASSWORD THAT CAN BE FOUND IN A DICTIONARY OR A WORD LIST!!

That clear enough?

Rule number two: Use COMPLEXITY and Passphrases that will be memorable to you.

Possible improvements on the Pentagon password choice of “progress”:

1. Pr)gr3ss

2. pr00GrE55

3. mYp@55w0rDis_500000000L)ngyUOwI//n3v3aGUezzITinyuRL1f#t1mez

Need I say more? Geez… This stuff is TSBO101 (That Should Be Obvious 101).
